Web Design & Development

Web Design & Development for your online presence

Your website is often the first place people meet you. What it says, how it looks, and how fast it loads decide what happens next.

About this service

We design and build websites that present a brand, get visitors to act, and stay fast, secure, and readable to the AI assistants now browsing the web. Our designers and engineers work as one team, from the first content plan to launch.

Organizations With Websites We Built

Each of these organizations meets its audience on a site we designed and built.

Industries We've Designed Websites For

The job changes by industry. A science nonprofit has to explain, a film festival has to sell tickets, and a media network has to keep people watching.

Our Process

L+R plans content first, designs every page group as one system, and tests every built page against the approved design.

Common Questions About Hiring A Web Design Studio

Where a website ends, when to redesign, AI agents, and life after launch.

  • No, though they overlap. A website introduces you and gets the right visitors to act: ask about a lease, buy a ticket, get in touch. Once people log in, submit data, pay, or manage something of their own, it's an application, and web application development is the better place to start. Plenty of projects need both, and we build both.

  • Usually one of two signs: the site no longer represents the organization behind it, or it isn't performing the way you expect. OceanX's old site still worked, but it no longer showed the scale of the expeditions, the science, and the education work. The new OceanX.org launched in June 2025, during the UN Ocean Conference, built to carry large video files and detailed environmental datasets with reliable load times.

  • Agents already use websites, mostly by reading them the way a person would, only faster and more literally. A site that's ready for them states things plainly: what you offer, what each action does, and what happens next. That starts with clean structure and copy, and it now has an open standard: WebMCP, announced at Google I/O 2026, lets a site declare what an agent can do there. We've started adding it to our own website.

  • Yes. We set up the CMS and page templates around the team that will run the site, so editors can update pages without touching the design. For NewFest, we ran onboarding sessions so staff could build new pages themselves.

  • L+R is a design and technology studio, founded in Brooklyn in 2012, with offices in New York and Barcelona. The same team plans, designs, and builds each site, and that work has earned Webby and W3 recognition, most recently at the 2026 Webby Awards. Tell us what your site has to do.
